Bio

Josephine Bloodgood is an artist and curator living in New York’s Hudson Valley. She has exhibited her work at venues such as the San Jose Institute of Contemporary Art; the Columbus Museum of Art, Columbus, Georgia; the Museum of Fine Arts, Florida State University; the Osilas Art Gallery, Concordia College, Bronxville, NY; the University Art Museum, SUNY Albany; the Dorsky Museum, SUNY New Paltz; the Schenectady Museum, Schenectady, NY; and the Marist College Art Gallery, Poughkeepsie, NY. In 2009, she was invited and showed with five other American artists in the Kunstiendaagse (Ten Days of Art) Festival in Bergen, The Netherlands. She has had numerous solo shows, including those at the Smith Gallery and Callanwolde Fine Art Center in Atlanta and the Unison Arts Center in New Paltz.

Bloodgood received a BFA from SUNY New Paltz in 1989 and a MFA from the University of Georgia in 1996. After living and showing her work in Georgia and working as a curator at the Georgia Museum of Art for several years, Bloodgood returned in 2002 to the Hudson Valley. She is Director and Curator of the Permanent Collection at the Woodstock Artists Association and Museum and teaches painting part time at SUNY Ulster. Her work appears in public and private collections in both New York and Georgia, including a mural-size painting in the collection of the Performing Arts Center at the University of Georgia.
